Having served on the St. Albert constituency Association board for the past three years and on the Party Policy and Governance Committee for many months I have experienced first-hand both the positive effects of open and honest communications, and the negative consequences when communications breaks down. I believe it’s absolutely critical that the Party board creates and maintains clear, responsive, and reciprocal communications channels with all of its CAs, and that’s a belief that I’ll back with action in collaboration with my fellow Board members when I’m elected.
I see the job of Northern Regional Director as an opportunity for me to be a steadfast advocate on the Board for the constituency associations I will represent. As president of the only UCPA Constituency Association in northern Alberta with an NDP MLA, I know what it is like to NOT have our voices heard!
My background in computers and information technology has allowed me to bring a unique skillset to the Party committees I’ve been a member of. I’ve written software that was used to automate scrutineer data entry for St. Albert in the 2019 election, as well as the tool used to submit policy rankings for this year’s AGM. With your vote I’ll be able to bring this expertise to the Party as a whole. For example, to help our VP-Communications develop tools to better communicate with CAs and Members, to assist our new VP-Membership getting CIMS up and running and a useful tool for CAs, or to assist our VP-Fundraising find novel, non-intrusive solutions to connect with average Members for this vital Party function.
